Conversations on Mid to Late Life Transitions

The series “Conversations on Mid and Late Life Transitions” continues to garner a warm response from the Emory community. The inaugural “Conversation” featured a round table discussion of issues faced by women in mid and later life, and was moderated by Phyllis Rosen, LCSW. Ms. Rosen, the facilitator of "Conversations," is a clinical social worker who has been in practice for over 20 years.

Sponsored by the Center for Women and the Emeritus College, the series targets emeritae women and other female retirees of the University, as well as current women faculty, staff, and administrators who are facing the transitions of by mid and later life. "Conversations on Mid and Late Life Transitions" meets over light refreshments and wine approximately every two months. The participants represent a diverse group of women ranging in age from forty-something to eighty-something. We believe that our programs offer learning experiences for women at Emory and in the community that help women transform themselves as they deal with life-changing events.

Whether addressing caretaking for older relatives, concerns about retirement, fears about death, relationships with children, peers, parents and partners, or joy at life after sixty, discussions are always lively and eye-opening. Each meeting includes a number of regular attendees as well as a host of new faces.

The next Conversation will take place on December 15, 2009 in a new location, Room 415 East, Marial Conference Center Meeting Room, 4th floor, Building A – Briarcliff Campus.
