Women's History Month at Emory - March 2008
Women at Emory: Past, Present, and Future

In March every year, the Center for Women sponsors a wide-ranging celebration of National Women's History Month, attracting nationally recognized keynote speakers such as Naomi Wolf, Rebecca Walker, Faye Wattleton, Lani Guinier, Wilma Mankiller, Natalie Angier, Carol Moseley Braun, Rachel Simmons, Helen Thomas, Julianne Malveaux, and Margaret Edson.

Keynote Event: Helen Thomas, "First Lady of the Press." Commonly referred to as the First Lady of the Press, former White House Bureau Chief Helen Thomas will deliver the keynote address for Women's History Month. Helen brings her considerable knowledge, experience, and insider perspective to Emory during an auspicious time for women in politics. Renowned as a trailblazer, Helen broke through barriers for women reporters while covering every president since John F. Kennedy. In keeping with our theme, Helen returns as a woman from Emory's past--she delivered the Women's History Month keynote address in March 2004. Now, with Nancy Pelosi as the first woman Speaker of the House and Hillary Clinton as a female contender for the White House in 2008, Helen will share her considerable wisdom and speak about the role of women in politics today and in the future.

Sponsored by Center for Women, Department of Women's Studies Jessica Glasser Memorial Lecture, Hightower Lecture Fund, Graduate School, Emory Law School, President's Commision on the Status of Women at Emory, and Emory Alumnae and Women of Emory

Join us on Monday, March 31 at 7:00 PM in the Tull Auditorium of Emory Law School; book signing sponsored by Charis Books and reception to follow in the Hunter Atrium.
