Women's History Month at Emory, March 1994

In March every year, the Emory Women's Center sponsors a wide-ranging celebration of Women's History Month. Attracting nationally recognized keynote speakers such as the Boston Women's Health Collective, Michael Kimmel, Naomi Wolf, Rebecca Walker, Faye Wattleton, Lani Guinier, Wilma Mankiller, Natalie Angier, Carol Moseley Braun, Rachel Simmons, and Helen Thomas.

Women's History Month events at Emory open a window onto women's cultural, intellectual and social lives.

Keynote Speaker: Michael Kimmel is a sociologist and author who has received international recognition for his work on men and masculinity. His books on masculinity include Changing Men: New Directions in Research on Men and Masculinity, Men Confront Pornography, Against the Tide: Pro-Feminist Men in the United States, 1776-1990. Kimmel is also National Spokesperson for the National Organization for Men Against Sexism (NOMAS) and has lectured at over 100 universities.

Michael Kimmel was the Keynote Speaker for Women's History Month at Emory in 1994. He delivered his talk "Clarence, William, Robert, Iron Mike, Magic--and Us: Issues for Women and Men in the 1990's" on March 16 in the WHSCAB Auditorium.
