unsung heroines

The Center for Women’s eleventh annual Unsung Heroines Awards took place on February 21, 2008. Recipients of the 2008 Unsung Heroines Awards were honored at a dinner and reception at the Miller-Ward Alumni House.

Inaugurated in 1998 by the Advisory Board of the Center for Women, the awards define an Unsung Heroine as a “woman who has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to issues that affect women, at Emory or in the larger community, but whose efforts heretofore have not received accolades or formal recognition.” Recipients receive a commemorative plaque and a cash prize. For more information on how to nominate an Unsung Heroine, visit www.womenscenter.emory.edu, email sasha.smith@emory.edu, or call 404.727.2001.
