Women's Centers

The National Women’s Studies Association Conference will take place in Atlanta November 12-15.  Over forty Emory faculty, staff, and students will present at NWSA this year, including featured speakers Natasha Trethewey (Creative Writing), Frances Smith Foster (English/Women’s Studies), and Rudolph Byrd (African American Studies). Spelman Women’s Studies and English Professor Beverly Guy-Sheftall, who received her Ph.D. from Emory, is the President of NWSA this year.  

Center for Women at Emory Director Dona Yarbrough is co-chair of the Women’s Centers Pre-conference Committee, which plans the national meeting for Women’s Center professionals that takes place annually at NWSA.   The following undergraduate and graduate students received scholarships from The Office of Community and Diversity and the Center for Women to attend the conference:  Olivia Wise, Lucia Vidable, Mary Oxford, Christina Kaczorowski, Min-Ah Cho, and Roselyn Thomas.  Congratulations to our students!
