Timeline: Celebrating Women since 1992

1993: The Atlanta Clothesline Project is housed at the Emory Women's Center and travels throughout the city.

 

1994: Feminist extraordinaire Gloria
Steinam shared her
wisdom with the Emory community.

 

1995: Margo Machida spoke about her experiences as an Asian American woman artist.

 

1996: Feminist author and social critic Naomi Wolf spoke about a new understanding of female desire.

 

1997: Rebecca Walker, author and activist, was the Women's History Month Speaker.

 

1998: Lorne Coleman and Amy Treadwell demonstrate the ESCAPE Women's Self-Defense and Empowerment Program.

 

1999: The Mary Lynn Morgan Annual Lectureship on Women in the Health Professions was established.

 

2000: Patricia Hudgins and Suzie Tindall relate events from their lives in Telling Our Stories.

 

2001: The Emory Women's Center Advisory Board calls women from across the campus to leadership mentoring roles.

 

2002: Ali P. Crown with Emory President Emeritus Jim Laney at the tenth-anniversary gala.
